history

Ljubljana is a blend of the good old and brave new times and it seems that the five millenia ever since the first settlement on this site have nothing but prepared the city to become a capital.

Ljubljana, however, managed to preserve the vestiges of all the periods of its rich history: the remains of the Roman city of Emona, the old town with its Renaissance, Baroque and Fin-de-Siècle facades, ornate portals, romantic bridges adorning the Ljubljanica River, the uneven roofs, the park persisting in the city centre and the works of one of the most prominent pioneers of modern architecture (more).
